learn acoustic guitar

I don’t know whether to learn how to play the Drums or the Acoustic Guitar. Which one do you think is the best, easiest, or ill have the most fun learning?

P.S When you learn how to play the guitar, do you have to learn how to play the Acoustic guitar before the Electric guitar?

I’d say acoustic guitar. That is and instrument that you can bring places and sing along with! It is VERY fun!

I actually learned to play them in this order. Drums, bass, electric guitar, then acoustic. Drums are the easiest because almost anyone can play the basics, its all in letting yourself feel the beat.

Drums are easier and way more fun. You get to make differnt beats and everything with them. But the down side is, drums are actually loads of percussion instruments all in one which makes it hard to learn. Acoustic is nice to listen to but it can get boring. PLus it doesnt matter if you leran either acoustic or electirc, its the same fingering.
    Drums is my vote!!!

    I took lessons for both.

At first the drums were easier, since I had great timing. But when I had to learn to do three different things at once, that’s when it became a challenge.

The guitar was harder at first, and a bit painful, since my fingers weren’t used to all those contortions. But it did get easier. I started learning on my electric, (Fender Telecaster). I never picked up an acoustic until 2 years ago.

I wouldn’t say that one instrument is easier to learn than the other… They are just different in their requirements and challenges. You will run into difficulties with each. And you find some things easier than the other, about each. Also the desire to learn plays a big factor on how well you will do. Pick the one you have your heart in the most, that will motivate you to learn.

For the drums… There’s actually a pretty good online course that you can use. The link is below. The lessons are free and may help you decide to take an offline course.

Easy:Drums(You dont have to tune, dont have to worry about chords etc…just find the beat and bang away!!!)
More Fun and Impressive:Acoustic Guitar…man it has awesome class…..just imagine, what would you like to play in public,a set of drums or a classy tune on a acoustic guitar???

As for that “P.S” theres no rule like that….actually electronic guitars are better for begginers as the have lighter strings that are easier to press. (Though they are expensive and may prove a huge loss if you change your mind!!!)

I personally think that the best way to get rhythm is to learn all of the basics and rudiments on drums (pick up a couple of videos from you local music store Guitar Center more so than others) and maybe get with a skilled or professional drummer and or teacher to show you like how to hold and position your hands. After that is all said and done with and you have basic knowledge of rhythm I would suggest learning the guitar acoustic first then then electric guitar because the acoustic has a wider neck and its a little hard to push the strings down onto to the frets. Well I hope this helps
